Tax-Exempt Funds Aiding Settlements in West Bank Published: July 6, 2010 HAR BRACHA, West Bank -- Twice a year, American evangelicals show up at a winery in this Jewish settlement in the hills of ancient Samaria to play a direct role in biblical prophecy, picking grapes and pruning vines... ''Settlements violate international law, and the United States is supposed to be sponsoring a two-state solution, yet it gives deductions for donation to the settlements?'' said Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator. The settlements are a sensitive issue among American Jews themselves. Some major Jewish philanthropies, like the Jewish Federations of North America, generally do not support building activities in the West Bank. The donors to settlement charities represent a broad mix of Americans -- from wealthy people like the hospital magnate Dr. Irving I. Moskowitz and the family behind Haagen-Dazs ice cream to bidders at kosher pizza auctions in Brooklyn and evangelicals at a recent Bible meeting in a Long Island basement. But they are unified in their belief that returning the West Bank -- site of the ancient Jewish kingdoms -- to full Jewish control is critical to Israeli security and fulfillment of biblical prophecies. query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A06E4DC1E31F935A35754C0A9669D8B63&scp=282&sq=George%20w%20bush&st=nyt&pagewanted=1

Anti-Israel event halted at city school Last modified: March 31, 2011 1:14 a.m. Staff at a Calgary high school, along with members of the local and national Jewish community, were forced to act quickly last week to halt a planned anti-Israel demonstration by students. Metro has learned members of the amnesty club at Western Canada High School had planned to hold a mock roadblock event to portray their perceived Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people. It would have been the first demonstration of its kind at a high school in western Canada, said Anita Bromberg, national director, legal affairs for Jewish advocacy and support group B’nai Brith Canada. Her organization became involved after receiving concerns from Jewish parents whose children attend the school. www.metronews.ca/Edmonton/Local/article/819191--anti-israel-event-halted-at-city-school_____________________________ Well, what's the new catch phrase: "anti-semitism disguised as anti-Zionism." Onward phosphorus DU etc. soldiers, one side, indeed. No criticism of Israel allowed, children, or our then secret security agreement with the new 11th province either. What can you do. It's only international law.

The Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for Israel's 1 April extrajudicial killing of three Hamas members in Gaza. The latest violence follows weeks of escalation of violence between Gaza and Israel, which Israeli analysts say has been fueled and instigated* by Israel. electronicintifada.net/v2/article11900.shtml

BREAKING NEWS: Israel's Attack on Humanitarian Ship to Gaza. Updated Report May 16, 2011 "Israeli army: This is a warning shot. Turn around. Captain Jalil Mansor: We are unarmed civilians on a humanitarian mission to Gaza. Israeli army: This is a closed military zone. It’s a violation. Turn around. Mansor: We will continue (the mission). The Israelis then headed to the back of the aid vessel and released a second warning shot into the air. Graham: This is a violation (of international law). We are on a peaceful mission and unarmed. Israeli army: Turn around. We will fire again. Graham: You are firing towards unarmed civilians. Israeli army: We didn’t fire towards unarmed civilians. Graham: Looks like firing towards us. Israeli army: We didn’t fire towards you. That is only a warning shot. Following that conversation, the Israeli army fired two more shots and threatened: “Next time, we will land on your ship.” Then the Egyptian navy was heard telling the Israelis on the radio: “Stop firing. They are in Egyptian waters.” On 27 December 2008, the Israeli military launched Operation Cast Lead, which not only killed some 1400 Palestinians, but also destroyed vital infrastructure leaving the Gazans with critical water and sewage problems. Repair of the infrastructure has proved impossible as Israel has prevented the entry of construction materials and fuel to resolve this dire situation. According to a report from the Emergency Water, Sanitation and Hygiene group (EWASH), "the release of 80 million litres of untreated or partially treated sewage into the environment and Mediterranean Sea each day is primarily a result of the Israeli imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip." www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=24789

Israel expropriates Palestinian land in order to legalize West Bank settlement Latest update 01:57 08.07.11 Last week, acting on orders from the government, the Civil Administration declared 189 dunams of land belonging to the Palestinian village of Karyut to be state land, so as to retroactively legalize houses and a road in the Hayovel neighborhood of the settlement of Eli. This would seem to violate Israel's long-standing commitment to the United States not to expropriate Palestinian lands for settlement expansion. www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/israel-expropriates-palestinian-land-in-order-to-legalize-west-bank-settlement-1.372023

Protests put unflattering spotlight on Israel August 8, 2011 In an interview broadcast on YouTube on March 30, Mr Netanyahu said: "Everything is shaking and rocking, and the only stable place, the only stable country, is this democracy Israel." The more than a quarter of a million protesters who took to the streets of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and at least 10 other towns across Israel on Saturday night see it differently. www.smh.com.au/world/protests-put-unflattering-spotlight-on-israel-20110807-1ihok.html
