We were one of the first to inform our readers that, contrary to U.S. and Israeli claims, Israel wasn't relentlessly bombing Gaza in response to rocket fire into Israel. The latest fight began when a lull in cross-border violence was broken on Nov. 8 by Israeli tanks invading southern Gaza and shooting and killing a 13-year-old boy. Gaza militants responded by shooting an anti-tank missile at an IDF vehicle, wounding four soldiers. antiwar.com/donate/

I can almost imagine his mental processes at work: ‘No one stops me, Binyamin Netanyahu. In the 1990s, I was elected prime minister on a platform that promised to end the Oslo peace process, and I did it. I was forced by president Clinton to go to talks at the Wye River Plantation and forced to sign an agreement with the Palestinians. But I beat them all, because I refused to implement what I signed. I was told by Clinton not to destroy Jabal Abul- Ghanaim, the last green hill between Bethlehem and Jerusalem. And now on that hill stands Har Homa, a city of 18,000 settlers, with more due to come. All those settlements the US once called “illegitimate” and the EU called “illegal” are now called “accepted realities” by the US and EU. Remember the “outposts”, built on the hilltops we illegally seized after Wye, that we were repeatedly told to dismantle? We promised on a number of occasions that we would remove them, but we delayed, knowing that time was on our side. We’ve since built roads connecting them to our highways and linked them to our electric grid and those “outposts” are still there and are flourishing.’ www.counterpunch.org/2011/10/07/netanyahus-little-lie/

Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu, The Committee to Protect Journalists is gravely concerned that Israeli airstrikes targeted individual journalists and media facilities in the Gaza Strip between November 18 and 20. Journalists and media outlets are protected under international law in military conflict. cpj.org/2012/12/israel-must-explain-targeting-of-journalists-gaza.php

HERE COMES A ROCKET The picture that emerges from data of 2011 can be summed up as follows: 1) the bulk of projectile fire from Gaza occurs as part of peaks or periodic spikes. 2) These spikes are invariably preceded by significant Palestinian causalities caused by Israeli fire. 3) Not all dramatic spikes in Palestinian casualties result in increased projectile fire from Gaza. storify.com/occpal/there-comes-a-rocket-from-gazaTikun Olam-תיקון עולם Promoting Israeli democracy, exposing secrets of the national security state David Brotsky’s Romance With Guns, Violence and Pro-Israel Hate by Richard Silverstein on December 4, 2012 A year ago or so I exposed the identity of the founder of the Jewish Internet Defense Force (Wikipedia article). David Brotsky, aged 37, lives in Dallas, TX (and appears to have lots of ties to New York). He is a film production and location manager by day. His credits include some of the better known movies and commercials made in the past decade or so. Among his projects were Almost Famous, Sweet and Lowdown, Friday Night Lights, and The Cradle Will Rock. What’s interesting and strange about Brotsky is that while his professional career appears legitimate, almost nothing that he does in his shadowy borderline violent pro-Israel advocacy is. Recent tweets by David Brotsky aka JIDF By night, he’s David Appletree, a rabid gut-toting, hate mongering Jewish terrorist (or wannabe). Lately, he’s gone ever farther over the top than normal, calling for the formation of Jewish militias in all of America’s major cities and imposing vigilante justice on Israel’s enemies whoever and wherever they may be. Here are some of his more incendiary recent tweets (first, second, third): www.richardsilverstein.com/2012/12/04/david-brotskys-romance-with-guns-violence-and-pro-israel-hate/

Israeli military refuses to investigate deadly Gaza strike that killed 12 civilians -- April 14, 2013 On November 18, 2012, in the midst of Israel’s latest operation in the Gaza Strip, an Israeli warplane dropped a large bomb on the al-Dalou family’s home. The attack killed ten members of the family and two neighbors. It instantly became a grim symbol of Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense, the military name given for the assault in November that killed 101 Palestinian civilians, according to a UN Human Rights Council report. mondoweiss.net/2013/04/military-investigate-civilians.htmlHow Many Rockets Did Iron Dome Shoot Down? INSS Insight No. 414, March 21, 2013 The report claims that Iron Dome was able to intercept only 5 percent of all the rockets fired at Israel during Operation Pillar of Defense in November 2012, a far cry from the 87 percent success rate boasted by Israel. www.inss.org.il/publications.php?cat=21&incat=&read=11166

1 August 2014, 4.43pm BST Attacks on UN schools in Gaza clearly breach international law The shelling of Jabalia Elementary Girls' School in Gaza on July 30 by Israeli forces was a shocking example of modern military action. The shelling was the sixth time a United Nations school has been struck since the current hostilities began. Increasingly and tragically, education is at the centre of a humanitarian crisis in Gaza as people flee their homes to shelter in places like schools. theconversation.com/attacks-on-un-schools-in-gaza-clearly-breach-international-law-29997
