People complained of the oily smells when the wind is blowing off the water, and listed symptoms including headaches, nosebleeds, asthma attacks, cough, nausea, and vomiting. A marine biologist interviewed on BTV, said that the dispersants literally fried the brain, creating lesions in the process. The Gulf fishermen forced to abandon their trade are currently making ends meet by doing the clean-up. She also noted that the micro organisms were dying.
