Authorities say the release of natural gas and water containing crude oil was found during routine inspections Monday. The spray was active for about two hours before the line was isolated and depressurized. The spill happened at the BP Exploration (Alaska) west operating area in Prudhoe Bay, at H Pad Well 8. That site remained shut down Tuesday. fuelfix.com/blog/2014/04/30/oily-mist-sprayed-over-27-acres-at-prudhoe-bay/

World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument 1. Is it true that oil still leaks from the USS Arizona? Yes. Currently, the ship leaks 2-9 quarts each day. The increase in oil release rates vary considerably with differing wind, tide, and harbor conditions. Although the exact amount cannot be determined, the USS Arizona contains an estimated 500,000 gallons (liters) of Bunker-C fuel within its hull. www.nps.gov/valr/faqs.htm

2014 already a nasty year for Wyoming oil spills | September 18, 2014 5:10 pm 25,000-gallon oil spill burns in the Powder River Basin southeast of Buffalo after officials deliberately ignited the crude in what they say was their best cleanup option in the rugged area. (May 22, 2014 file photo provided by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management)Almost 220,000 gallons of oil already has spilled in Wyoming this year, more than double the 90,000 gallons all last year. About 165,000 gallons spilled in 2010, the previous worst year since the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality began tracking spills in a database that year. trib.com/business/energy/already-a-nasty-year-for-wyoming-oil-spills/article_e54d1eda-963e-527f-be99-52566f7ac00b.html

Alberta pipeline spills 60,000 litres of crude in province's north Published Saturday, November 29, 2014 9:43PM EST RED EARTH CREEK, Alta. -- The Alberta Energy Regulator says close to 60,000 litres of crude oil have spilled into muskeg in the province's north. An incident report by the regulator states that a mechanical failure was reported Thursday at a Canadian Natural Resources Limited (TSX:CNQ) pipeline approximately 27 kilometres north of Red Earth Creek. The report says there are no reports of impact to wildlife and that a cleanup has begun. Red Earth Creek is over 350 kilometres northwest of Edmonton. Carrie Rosa, a spokeswoman for the regulator, says officials have been delayed reaching the scene due to poor weather in the last few days. No one from Canadian Natural Resources could be reached on Saturday for comment. In April, a pipeline owned by the company spilled 70,000 litres of oil and processed water in the region.
