Hugh's Fish Fight Every day far out at sea half the fish caught in the North Sea are being thrown back dead. That's almost a million tonnes of edible fish every year - wasted. Fishermen hate doing it, but EU law says they have to. They call it "discarding". www.fishfight.net/

We've come a long way since this campaign started, but the FISH FIGHT is not over yet. RIGHT NOW is a key moment in the next stage of the reform process as MEPs debate the details of the new Common Fisheries Policy. We want all of you to email your MEP and let them know how strongly you feel about a radical reform of the laws that govern our oceans. Send an email to your MEP Step 1: www.fishfight.net/MEPsYOUR EMAIL COULD MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

It's time to hit the shower — the Lyrid meteor shower Put on something warm, kick back in a comfortable chair and watch for the show updated 1 hour 54 minutes ago A meteor occurs when a tiny fragment of interplanetary material, known as a meteoroid, enters the Earth's atmosphere and is heated to incandescence. This usually occurs at an altitude between 47 and 62 mph (75 and 100 kph). Most meteoroids are vaporized in the process; only the largest survive to reach the surface of the Earth, where they are called meteorites. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47093085/ns/technology_and_science-space/

Underwater City Of Doggerland Found At The Bottom Of North Sea Posted: July 4, 2012 The lost city of Atlantis may get all the press but the city of Doggerland has actually been found. A group of British Scientists believe that they have discovered the lost underwater city at the bottom of the North Sea. According to CBS, Doggerland was once considered the “heart of Europe” and connected modern-day Britain to the rest of the continent. Dr. Richard Bates, a geophysicist at the University of St. Andrews, says that his team has found several artifacts at the bottom of the sea that may have come from the hunters and gatherers that lived in Doggerland. Bates says that the land surrounded the British isles and connected England to France and Scotland to Denmark. more: www.inquisitr.com/269157/underwater-city-of-doggerland-found-at-the-bottom-of-north-sea/

Not exactly North Sea. Meteor explodes over Wales creating sonic boom that set off car alarms Aug 28, 2012 Tourists and locals have spoken of how a meteor "lit up the sky" over Wales - and then exploded causing a sonic boom that shook windows and set off car alarms. The golf ball-sized meteor exploded over South Wales, waking children with its "bomb-like" bang. travel.aol.co.uk/2012/08/28/meteor-explodes-over-wales-creating-sonic-boom/
