Maintaining the ability to respond to such challenges is a critical part of the U.S. commitment to Gulf security, she said. www.bellinghamherald.com/2012/05/11/2518379/us-resumes-some-arms-shipments.html"But it said it is releasing the equipment because it is in U.S. national interests and is necessary for the defense of Bahrain, which is host to the U.S. Navy's 5th fleet."

Bahrain to pursue talks, receive more Gulf troops Mar 18, 2011 at 23:50
In an effort to wipe out all trace of the uprising, drills hammered at the base of Bahrain's most recognizable landmark until it collapsed into a mound of rubble on Friday.
The statue comprised six sails symbolizing each of the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, holding up a pearl, symbol of the pearl fishing heritage that was the economic mainstay of the region before the discovery of oil. U.S. Military Taught Officers: Use ‘Hiroshima’ Tactics for ‘Total War’ on Islam May 10, 2012 The U.S. military taught its future leaders that a “total war” against the world’s 1.4 billion Muslims would be necessary to protect America from Islamic terrorists, according to documents obtained by Danger Room. Among the options considered for that conflict: using the lessons of “Hiroshima” to wipe out whole cities at once, targeting the “civilian population wherever necessary.” www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/05/total-war-islam/all/1

Big Three wheeler-dealer Khalid bin Mahfouz, one of the largest stockholders in the criminal bank, was indicted when the massive BCCI banking scandal blew apart in the early 1990s. The Saudi royal family placed him under house arrest after discovering that Mahfouz had used the royal bank to channel millions of dollars through fake charities into bin Laden's organizations, but Mahfouz was not so much punished as inconvenienced. The Conservatives initially refused to discuss his duties as an adviser to Heritage Minister James Moore. After several months, Moore shared some details, explaining that Zajdel worked in his Montreal office as a non-partisan liaison with the city’s multiethnic communities. metronews.ca/news/canada/47071/tories-shadow-mp-leaves-government-gig/Conservatives, supporters circle the wagons on Air India link to B.C. candidate - April 23, 2011 Khalsa School founder Ripudaman Singh Malik, the man acquitted in the Air India bombing, spoke at the meeting. 6/20/2012 8:30:00 AM | Canada News Wire Budget Cuts Radio Canada International (RCI) - Solidarity Rally for RCI MONTREAL, June 20, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - More than a hundred people demonstrated in front of the Radio-Canada-CBC building in Montreal today at noon in solidarity with the RCI Action Committee, a union-supported lobby of Radio Canada International employees. At the rally the Committee called on the federal government to stop the budget cuts at the international service, and to give RCI financial autonomy from Radio-Canada-CBC. On April 4, 2012, Radio-Canada-CBC announced RCI's budget would be cut by 80%, dropping from $12.3 million to $2.3 million. The newsroom will be closed down. RCI, Canada's Voice to the World for the past 67 years, will stop being a radio broadcaster both on shortwave and by satellite on June 24. This decision was retroactively approved by Canadian Heritage Minister James Moore on June 7, when he changed the 2003 Order in Council and removed Radio-Canada-CBC's obligation to provide RCI's programming on shortwave, and to consult the ministry of Foreign Affairs about geographic target areas and broadcast languages. Listeners cut off from Canada In ending RCI's role as a radio broadcaster and limiting its presence to the Internet, millions of listeners will be cut off from uncensored news from Canada. This is because of limited access to the Internet, or as in the case of Chinese listeners, because the RCI website is blocked by Chinese authorities. In the case of China, however, the shortwave radio broadcasts are not jammed by the authorities. Minister Moore's decision now effectively does that for them. Many of Canada's important economic partners such as India, Russia and Brazil will also lose access to Canadian news because the services have been closed, or in the case of India, access to the Internet is limited. In addition, the Minister's decision to eliminate the need for consultations with Foreign Affairs opens the door to more slashing of the service such as those to Ukraine, Russia and Brazil. Enormous loss of expertise RCI Action Committee spokesperson Wojtek Gwiazda, a host and producer at Radio Canada International, says the federal government must step in and stop the drastic cuts to Radio Canada International, "We think it should be Canada's Parliament and not Radio-Canada-CBC that decides the strength or weakness of RCI. Even if we know the government does not want to get involved in the internal functioning of the Radio-Canada-CBC, we feel that the Corporation failed to meet its obligations under the Broadcasting Act." For SCRC president Alex Levasseur, "Canada's voice to the world is unique not because it broadcasts in different languages, but because it explains Canada to the rest of the world in these different languages. Our contextualized programming for people who may know little about Canada helps trade, tourism and immigration. And RCI's tradition of journalistic integrity has received worldwide respect and appreciation for 67 years." For more information, visit www.rciaction.org/blogThe SCRC represents almost 1800 members in Quebec and Moncton, and is affiliated with the Fédération nationale des communications of the CSN. www.cnsmagazine.com/press-releases/story.aspx?id=1001477760Not to mention domestic digital transmission sales. LAST BROADCASTS THIS WEEK. ARCHIVES WILL NOT BE KEPT: 67 YEARS. INVESTMENT: ALL GONE.

Father of medicareTommy Douglas secrecy order appealed by Ottawa Last Updated: Sep 29, 2011 8:48 PM ET The Harper federal government is appealing a court order to lift the shroud of secrecy over a decades-old RCMP dossier on socialist trailblazer Tommy Douglas. Federal Court Justice Simon Noel ordered the government in August to reconsider its decision to withhold at least one-third of the 1,142-page security intelligence file and heavily censor the rest. He gave Library and Archives Canada 90 days to determine what additional information ought to be released in response to a six-year-old Access to Information request by The Canadian Press. Noel chided the archives for failing to consider its mandate to preserve historically important documents and make them accessible to Canadians when it decided to black out or withhold so much of the Douglas file. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/09/29/tommy-douglas-rcmp.html--- intelligence on Douglas was gathered as long as 70 years ago ---

Slaughter of the lambs puts Australia at odds with Pakistan | Agence France-Presse | Nov 6, 2012 SYDNEY// Prime Minister Julia Gillard demanded today that Pakistan investigate and explain the brutal killing of 21,000 Australian sheep in Karachi, a slaughter officials have described as appalling. The shipment of Australian sheep was sent to the port city after being turned away by Bahrain, with Pakistan livestock officials ordering them to be culled over disease concerns. Graphic footage of their slaughter was aired by ABC's Four Corners programme on Monday, including images of a man sawing at a sheep's neck before throwing it into a bloody trench. www.thenational.ae/news/world/middle-east/slaughter-of-the-lambs-puts-australia-at-odds-with-pakistanRevolt brewing over live exports as Labor backbench concerns spread - November 07, 2012 12:00AM JULIA Gillard faces heightened pressure to ban live animal exports as concerns among backbenchers over the cruel slaughter of Australian sheep in Pakistan spread beyond the Labor MPs who were instrumental in the revolt that led to last year's Indonesian cattle ban. www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/revolt-brewing-over-live-exports-as-labor-backbench-concerns-spread/story-fn59niix-1226511829565

Sep 22, 2011 WhoWhatWhy has found evidence linking the Saudi royal family to Saudis in South Florida who reportedly had direct contact with the 9/11 hijackers before fleeing the United States just prior to the attacks. Our report connects some of the dots first laid out by investigative author Anthony Summers and Florida-based journalist Dan Christensen in articles jointly published in the Miami Herald and on the nonprofit news site BrowardBulldog.org. In early September of this year, Summers and Christensen reported that a secret FBI probe, never shared with Congressional investigators or the presidential 9/11 commission, had uncovered information indicating the possibility of support for the hijackers from previously unknown confederates in the United States during 2001. Now WhoWhatWhy reveals that those alleged confederates were closely tied to influential members of the Saudi ruling elite. whowhatwhy.com/2011/09/22/saudi-royal-ties-to-911-hijackers-via-florida-saudi-family-0/
