Ancient Chinese Earthquake Detector sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=7f97db6fbe742f5f18b14db3b83de9ffIn the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) of China, earthquakes took place quite frequently. According to historical records, there were 26 large earthquakes between the year 92 and 125. In order to better detect earthquakes, Zhang Heng, a great scientist in ancient China, invented the world's first seismograph in 132 AD. Why can Zhang's seismograph detect earthquakes? Modern science has explanations. The earth has two kinds of vibration, seismic wave and the non-seismic wave. The non-seismic waves are usually longitudinal while the seismic waves are usually full of transversal energy. Some devices, such as a pendant lamp, have little reaction to longitudinal waves but are very sensitive to transversal waves. So, observing the pendant lamp is a very handy and reliable way to detect earthquakes. According to researchers, this probably is the basic mechanism used in Zhang's seismograph. chineseculture.myfairland.net/how-did-the-chinese-detect-earthquakes-two-thousand-years-ago

Scientists uncover Sodom's fiery end Saturday, 18 August, 2001, 04:38 GMT 05:38 UK Flammable methane Geological and archaeological evidence suggest that a huge one took place about four and a half thousand years ago - the time of the Biblical destruction. Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven. Genesis 19: 24, 25 Flammable methane pockets lie under the Dead Sea shores; the earthquake would have ignited them, the ground would have turned to quicksand, and a massive landslide would have swept the cities into the water. news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/1497476.stmThe Physical Ashen Remains of Sodom & Gomorrah www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwTVFk1HK3Y"balls of pure, elemental (98%) brimstone (sulphur)" "intensely hot - the major phases within each sample appear to be very 'clean.' 'Double whammy' warms Nunavut Lack of sea ice adds to 'feedback cycle' bringing rain to Arctic in January Last Updated: Monday, January 3, 2011 A lack of sea ice in parts of Canada's eastern Arctic is contributing to unusually mild temperatures in Nunavut, according to scientists. In recent months, the weather in many parts of Nunavut has been 10 to 12 degrees above the –20 and –30 C temperatures that are normal at this time of year. Light rain fell in Iqaluit, the territorial capital, as the daytime temperature hovered around 0 C on Monday. Environment Canada declared 2010 to be the warmest year on record there. In a rare sight for this time of year, Frobisher Bay has not yet frozen over entirely. Likewise, there is a lack of sea ice in parts of Hudson Bay, Davis Strait and other Arctic waterways. www.cbc.ca/canada/north/story/2011/01/03/arctic-sea-ice-climate.html

U.S. Declines to Give Details on Radiation * MARCH 19, 2011 The U.S. NRC limits the exposure of U.S. nuclear workers to no more than 50 millisieverts per year... The radiation could circle the globe in roughly two weeks, said Annika Thunborg, a spokeswoman for the United Nations's agency. online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704608504576208840531837916-search.htmlModélisation de la dispersion des rejets radioactifs dans l’atmosphère à l’échelle globale www.irsn.fr/FR/popup/Pages/irsn-meteo-france_19mars.aspxRadioactive iodine in Tokyo water, radiation in food near n-plant Saturday, March 19, 2011 Six workers trying to bring the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant back under control were exposed to more than 100 millisieverts of radiation – Japan's normal limit for those involved in emergency operations, according to Tokyo Electric Power Co., which operates the complex. The government raised that limit to 250 millisieverts on Tuesday as the crisis escalated. www.telegram.com/article/20110319/NEWS/110319608/1160/SPECIALSECTIONS04%26source=rssMainstream media halts accurate reporting on Japan's worsening nuclear catastrophe; disinfo campaign now underway Friday, March 18, 2011 The word from the top is clearly that media outlets should start downplaying this nuclear accident, which even now ranks as the second worst nuclear accident in the history of human civilization (right after Chernobyl)... General Electric, which manufactured the reactors in the Fukushima power plant, experienced huge stock losses over the last few days. Now, it seems the orders from the top are to tell people nuclear power is "still safe." GE, of course, is a huge asset holder in NBC www.naturalnews.com/031748_mainstream_media_nuclear_catastrophe.html
