DEAD STARLINGS SPOOK VILLAGERS Published: 10 Mar 2010 EXPERTS have been left baffled by the deaths of more than a HUNDRED starlings — which rained from the sky into a woman's garden. Nurse Julie Knight was greeted by the shocking sight — like a scene from Hitchcock's horror classic The Birds — when she returned home. Dozens of the birds were strewn across her front garden which measures just 12 feet across with blood coming from their beaks and their feet curled. Petrified Mum-of-two Julie, 53, said: "One of my neighbours saw them. They seemed to just fall out of the sky. About 70 were dead straight away. "It was like something out of a horror film. "The only way to describe what they looked like is that they seemed to have had a fright and were petrified. "There must have been over 100 birds in total. I've been a country girl all my life and I've never seen anything like it." Julie called in RSPCA experts who collected up the dead birds from her garden in the Somerset village of Coxley near Wells. Dozens more were beyond help and were euthanized. Only six starlings survived and were taken away for tests. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2886744/Dead-starlings-spook-villagers.htmlwww.metro.co.uk/news/816890-mystery-as-hundreds-of-dead-starlings-founds-on-somerset-street

Birds falling from the sky? August 6, 2009 A few days ago, our local newspaper ran a story www.themercury.com.au/article/2009/07/31/88011_tasmania-news.html on sparrows being found dead throughout Hobart, or disappearing entirely. Nathan and I read it and remarked that there were entirely too many sparrows about in our parts and good riddance. We were talking about it again today as we were driving. We pointed out the huge flocks of sparrows (and starlings) sitting on the fences and power lines. Then we saw the weirdest thing ever. A group of sparrows flew towards the road. There were maybe 50-60 birds? As they flew in a group, they banked over the Highway to turn around … … and the middle just fell out of the group. Mid flight, twenty birds dropped to the ground dead. Nathan and I were stunned. It wasn’t the kind of thing we were expecting to see at all. As we drove through the dead birds littering the Highway, I peered out of the window expecting to see one or two shaking out their feathers and hopping away, stunned, but not dead. No. They were dead. Twenty or so birds, just fell out of the sky with no warning. All at once. 30 metres up the road, another six or seven birds were dead in a group on the road. It was honestly the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen. Ever. somedaywewillsleep.com/birds-falling-from-the-sky/Sparrows drop off the twig July 31, 2009 08:55am BIRD watchers are grappling with Hobart's great sparrow mystery. www.themercury.com.au/article/2009/07/31/88011_tasmania-news.html

Jun 2nd 2010 By Simon Crisp Sick as a parrot -- drunk birds falling out of Australian sky Dozens of paralytic parrots are said to have started falling from the sky near Darwin, Australia after eating a mystery food which causes them to lose coordination and pass out. Avian experts say the red collar lorikeets (like the sober one pictured) are eating an unknown substance which quickly gets them drunk and causes them to lose control. Their stupor means the parrots then plunge to the ground after falling out of a tree, or even having simply dropped from the sky while flying. www.asylum.co.uk/2010/06/02/drunken-parrots-fall-out-of-australian-sky/

Update: Thousands of birds fall from the sky in Beebe January 1, 2011 Just before folks in Beebe rang in the New Year, many witnessed an uncanny resemblance to the Hitchcock movie "The Birds." About 2,000 black birds fell from the sky off Windwood Drive, leaving quite the mess to clean up. Folks Today's THV spoke with initially thought the birds were poisoned because they are what they call a nuisance around this time every year, but they are surprised to hear it is more of a mystery. Stephen Bryant recalls, "Millions, millions fly over every night. You look up at the sky and it's just black and then last night at about 10:30 I came out here and saw a bird drop." In a matter of hours on New Years Eve thousands of birds fell from the sky to their death. Melissa Weatherly says, "I immediately called mom because I had to go to work, I said you have to come get the kids and get the dog because I don't know what's going on." She continues, "It was horrible; you could not even get down the road without running over hundreds. It was that bad." www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=136195&catid=2

Hundreds of dead birds drop from sky in New Jersey January 26, 2009 Kipec and other area residents said police told them about an e-mail from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that discussed a program to poison blackbirds and starlings, but they were unaware of specific details. However, Donna Leusner — a spokeswoman for the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services — said Sunday night that the dead birds were part of a USDA program to reduce the European starling population. Leusner told The Star-Ledger of Newark that her department wasn't part of the culling program, but said it had been told of plans to feed the birds a "controlled substance." She could not say where they were poisoned or what was used to kill them. www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090126/NEWS/90126006/-1/rss01Another source: CBS. "Dead birds were found all over Franklin Township in Somerset County, reports CBS station WCBS-TV in New York City. On front lawns, rooftops, and even in the middle of the street. Neighbors are still picking them up, while others are frightened to even get near them."

Procession of the Damned: Mass Bird and Fish Deaths Turning Up Everywhere Wed, 05 Jan 2011 10:47 CST Yesterday, January 4th, RyanX discussed the recent mysterious deaths of blackbirds and fish in Arkansas. January 4th: Canada: Hundreds of Dead Fish 'A Natural Occurrence' January 4th: US: Thousands Of Fish Dead In Spruce Creek, Florida January 5th: Hundreds of dead snapper washed up on New Zealand beach January 5th: More birds fall out of the sky, this time in Sweden [METHANE??] As RyanX pointed out, loud booms were reported in Arkansas shortly before the birds began to fall from the sky, so intense and petrifying sound does appear to a plausible factor in that case... But before we ponder magnetic disturbances in the force, let's first turn to ufology and self-described "demonologist" John Keel, most famous, perhaps, for chronicling The Mothman Prophecies. His rigorous investigations and careful collection of Damned Data yielded insights into the hidden forces that produce these bizarre Fortean phenomena - data which mainstream science systematically ignores in the hope that it will just go away. Keel did a lot to open up a whole new vista for others to understand why ostensibly unrelated events come in pairs, threes, fours, and so on. www.sott.net/articles/show/220991-Procession-of-the-Damned-Mass-Bird-and-Fish-Deaths-Turning-Up-Everywhere

Forestry University, Harbin, thousands of sparrows in the woods near death, is said to be frozen to death. We know that birds navigate by the magnetic field, only the magnetic field changes, and the birds will be lost fall. Migratory birds rely on the body's "biological compass" to determine the direction is "open secret", but it is not clear how the perception of the magnetic field of birds. "Nobody knows it (the magnetic induction system) to work," Patterson said Murray, "magnetic induction principle is that people understand the nature, at least so far the (principle)." How long migratory birds perceive the magnetic field on two main points. One view is that the birds beak cells can sense the Earth's magnetic field and pass the message through the nervous system to the brain; another point of view, birds eye in the photoreceptor cells can "see" the magnetic field, and the information through another way to the brain is referred to as "N clusters" light processing area. Specific proteins in migratory birds eye "cryptochrome." Maybe this is the light-dependent magnetic field sensing of the media. Light stimulation of this protein produced a pair of free radicals, free radicals can be carried by the electron spin may be able to perceive the special properties of Earth's magnetic field. In general, the magnetic elements of change is very small, but with the solar activity and geomagnetic storms are closely related phenomena, but it happened very suddenly.
