Is there a gene for liberals? October 28, 2010; 10:40 AM ET The researchers speculate that having that the gene may make people more interested in seeking out new experiences, including learning about the points of views of their friends, exposing them to a "wider diversity of viewpoints" and leading to their liberalism. "It is the interaction of the desire for new experience and many different pathways to these experiences that we hypothesize has an impact on political ideology," they wrote. voices.washingtonpost.com/checkup/2010/10/is_there_a_gene_for_liberals.html

Study of Bush's psyche touches a nerve Wednesday 13 August 2003 02.33 BST A study funded by the US government has concluded that conservatism can be explained psychologically as a set of neuroses rooted in "fear and aggression, dogmatism and the intolerance of ambiguity". As if that was not enough to get Republican blood boiling, the report's four authors linked Hitler, Mussolini, Ronald Reagan and the rightwing talkshow host, Rush Limbaugh, arguing they all suffered from the same affliction. All of them "preached a return to an idealised past and condoned inequality". www.guardian.co.uk/world/2003/aug/13/usa.redbox

There was a nastier edge to the commentary. There were not-so-subtle appeals to racism and xenophobia, references to Muslim neighbourhoods in Quebec as “Quebecistan” and to Lebanese-Canadians as “Hezbocrats,” a play on the Muslim group Hezbollah. Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper even brought in Republican advisers, such as political consultant Frank Luntz, to give pointers on how the ruling Conservative Party could become as dominant in Canada as the GOP is in the United States. www.bushwatch.com/harper.htm

Religion and Morals in the Media Coming Soon: An American Theocracy Sex Tapes. How did FOX promote the reality show of two unknown, no talent, spoilt, rich girls who do not deserve a minute's occupancy in my brain cells? * Leak the news that some malicious boyfriend released a private sex tape. * Put it on the internet and make an apology tour that gives them credibility and sympathy. * Repeat the story on the news and in late night comedy and all talk shows. * Then release the cheesy television show. * Make me want to shoot myself or my television. I remember saying "Who is Paris Hilton and why is Jay Leno still making jokes about her"?. After her name kept surfacing on many shows I knew that a television show was coming. I had learned to recognize the marketing tricks. What new low did I learn from this? Even the comedy on Jay Leno and David Letterman may be economically motivated. It is entirely possible that they may be paid for the comedy routines as the morning news is paid for their journalistic "interviews". "The Bogus British Report". January 28, 2003. Bush said in a state of the union message. "The British government report said that Saddam was trying to acquire significant quantities of uranium from Africa". He also said that "Saddam Hussein was more than a brutal dictator, that he was a growing threat, intent on obtaining the most lethal weapon of all: a nuclear bomb." But, intelligence reports said that the British report was bogus long before these speeches. Joseph Wilson, former ambassador to Niger investigated the claim a year earlier and concluded that it was not true. The Downing Street Memo. During the week of May 19, 2005 a report, written July 23, 2002, surfaced, It shows that eight months before the war Bush had a policy to preemptively attack Iraq and they were going to make the intelligence and facts fit the policy. In other words they were going to lie. They were going to bend and twist the truth to sell their war. So they were not mistaken in their assessment of the intelligence. They specifically tried to make a case for war by inciting our fears, ignoring the truth, ignoring their experts and manufacturing reality. When this memo came out it did not seem to get news attention? Why? We were busy searching for a runaway bride. And we were trying to convict Newsweek of murder and tarnishing the image of the United States. The conservatives are controlling media outlets globally while pretending to be victimized by the immoral. While liberals and moderates have been asleep at the switch or partying in a drunken stupor, the same conservative bunch have been feeding them all the sex and hype and nonsense that they have associated with freedom. They are too stupid to ask why a company would promote a conservative agenda that has installed conservative systems in critical power positions that threaten our religious, legal and political freedoms while they continue to provide programming that supports an immoral social climate. Clear Channel and FOX try to block any political view that is not conservative. But they promote every liberal sexual trash that is dangerous to Christianity. Many other networks appear to promote the conservative political agenda. It is a myth that the news is controlled by liberals. It is only entertainment that is liberal. www.teachinghearts.org/dre00newsmedia.html

There's the economics of the thing, "free enterprise." February 23, 2011 Union of Concerned Scientists Bias and look at nuclear subsidies but not at other energy for context In terms of overall money, oil gets far more of the $550 billion in energy subsidies in 2008 worldwide. nextbigfuture.com/2011/02/union-of-concerned-scientists-bias-and.htmlI am not pro-nuclear. I just can't figure out why the oil business is government subsidized. It seems to be profitable & people in the industry seem to have a comfortable standard of living. * Coal: "(does not include externalities like air pollution or acid rain damage)," the costs fall to the public * They also do not look at the comprehensive view of safety (public risk) such as deaths per terawatt hour

The survey, titled "Big Drop in Those Who Believe that Global Warming is Coming" (PDF) found that about 29 percent of Americans don’t believe in global warming, while 21 percent are unsure. Sadly, these percentiles mirror the staunch political partisianship on this issue, with 73 percent of Democrats believing in global warming, compared to just 28 percent of Republicans.
