There were quite a few floods, e.g. Tennessee, during this BP spill - and heavy rains. Coincidence? I think not. May 1st - May 3rd, 2010.

Coincidence? I think not. Wettest April to June since records began and more unsettled weather to come Late spring and early summer have been the wettest on record with much of the country receiving more than a foot of rain. 4:42PM BST 29 Jun 2012 The Environment Agency said that the recent deluges had meant that the last three months have seen more rainfall than at any time since 1910 when the first readings were made. The highest rainfall was in Wales, parts of which saw 17 inches fall during the time. The "driest" area was the Anglian region with 11 inches. The Environment Agencies, which monitors rainfall levels as part of its brief to avoid droughts, made the announcement as the clean-up after being battered by the latest torrential downpours battered homes and the transport network. www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/9365467/Wettest-April-to-June-since-records-began-and-more-unsettled-weather-to-come.html

Only Medicine Hat escapes Alberta's un-natural gas pains - Published: 01/31/2001 - Vol. 1, No. 16 In this costly era of energy woes, the good citizens of Medicine Hat are sitting pretty thanks to some historical foresight. Its founders recognized they had hell for a basement 100 years ago and decided to buy the city’s shallow gas fields. The city is now the only urban centre in Canada that produces, stores and distributes its own gas. The city sells gas and hedges on the market place. All profits are reinvested to purchase more gas in the ground. It’s been a thrifty arrangement for consumers. Although the good people of Alberta also own the gas in the ground, they are paying full market prices for it — as high as $9.814 a gigajoule, or three times the rate being paid in Medicine Hat. If new rate rider increases go ahead this month, residents of southern Alberta will soon be paying $11.58 a gigajoule. www.businessedge.ca/archives/article.cfm/only-medicine-hat-escapes-albertas-un-natural-gas-pains-3706The Beauti-Fuel Project: Dr Michaela Vrey at TEDxWitsUniversity. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo0LKXFNSUEDemo unit www.beautifuel.co.za/index.html Waste as fuel! 2012-11-05: WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — An investigation has concluded that a New Zealand coal mining company ignored 21 warnings that methane had accumulated to explosive levels before an explosion killed 29 workers. The official report found broad safety problems in New Zealand workplaces and said the Pike River Coal company was exposing miners to unacceptable risks as it strove to meet its financial targets. article.wn.com/view/2012/11/05/Methane_Warnings_Ignored_Before_NZ_Mine_Disaster_2/
