Pentagon investigators are trying to determine the whereabouts of the Australian-born founder of the secretive website Wikileaks for fear that he may be about to publish a huge cache of classified State Department cables that, if made public, could do serious damage to national security, government officials tell The Daily Beast... American officials said Pentagon investigators are convinced that Assange is in possession of at least some classified State Department cables leaked by a 22-year-old Army intelligence specialist, Bradley Manning of Potomac, Maryland, who is now in custody in Kuwait. And given the contents of the cables, the feds have good reason to be concerned... Assange was in the United States as recently as several weeks ago, when he gave press interviews to promote the website’s release of an explosive 2007 video of an American helicopter attack in Baghdad that left 12 people dead, including two employees of the news agency Reuters. www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-06-10/wikileaks-founder-julian-assange-hunted-by-pentagon-over-massive-leak

Oct 18, 2010 Secret reports to be released WASHINGTON - THE Pentagon scoured through an Iraq war database on Monday to prepare for potential fallout from an expected release by WikiLeaks of some 400,000 secret military reports. The massive release, possibly early this week, is set to dwarf the whistleblower website's publication of 77,000 classified US military documents on the war in Afghanistan in July, including the names of Afghan informants and other details from raw intelligence reports. Another 15,000 are due out soon. www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/World/Story/STIStory_592135.html

EVERYWHERE (Rixstep) — Over 700 idiots from the 'Yesterday Media™' have been escalating their hysteria over the past few days, screaming about an imminent release of WikiLeaks documents. Of course it's been silly (and more so). Yesterday evening Twitter turned into a bit of a Sotheby's with some media sites claiming there'd be as many as 500,000 documents released. rixstep.com/1/1/20101018,00.shtml

WikiLeaks shines spotlight on mysterious Task Force 373 July 26th, 2010 U.S. military documents released by WikiLeaks show that a U.S. Special Forces unit in Afghanistan assigned to hunt down terrorists also was responsible for the deaths of civilians, Afghan police officers and, in one particularly bloody raid, seven children while they attended school. The unit is called Task Force 373. It’s assigned to kill so-called “high value” targets or detain them without trial, often in night operations. The 373 follows a hit list of sorts, according to The New York Times and The Guardian newspaper in England. (WikiLeaks gave The New York Times, The Guardian and German magazine Der Spiegel early access to the documents before posting them.) The list is referred to as Jpel, which supposedly stands for “joint prioritized effects list.” Der Spiegel reported in January that the Task Force was active in Kunduz in northern Afghanistan. afghanistan.blogs.cnn.com/2010/07/26/wikileaks-shines-spotlight-on-mysterious-task-force-373/

Prefers no condoms. Well there you go.WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in web furore over Swedish rape claim Sunday 22 August 2010 20.12 BST One of two women involved told Aftonbladet in an interview published today that she had never intended Assange to be charged with rape. She was quoted as saying: "It is quite wrong that we were afraid of him. He is not violent and I do not feel threatened by him." Speaking anonymously, she said each had had voluntary relations with Assange: "The responsibility for what happened to me and the other girl lies with a man who had attitude problems with women." Sources close to the woman said that issues arose during the relationships about Assange's willingness to use condoms. www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/aug/22/wikileaks-julian-assange-sweden

and Tableau....Leaking such information in the first place is already a crime, so the measure is aimed squarely at publishers. Lieberman (ID-CT) has been going after WikiLeaks with a fury he once reserved for video-game zombies, pressuring first Amazon, and then data-visualization company Tableau, to blacklist the organization in the wake of this week's State Department leak. Lieberman's proposed solution to WikiLeaks could have implications for journalists reporting on some of the more unsavory practices of the intelligence community. For example, former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega was once a paid CIA asset. Would reporting that now be a crime?... The SHIELD Act is co-sponsored by senators John Ensign (R-NV) and Scott Brown (R-MA). lol www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/12/shield/

Revealed: Assange ‘rape’ accuser linked to notorious CIA operative Published on 12-06-2010 Source: Raw Story One accuser, Anna Ardin, may have "ties to the US-financed anti-Castro and anti-communist groups," according to Israel Shamir and Paul Bennett, writing for CounterPunch. While in Cuba, Ardin worked with the Las damas de blanco (the Ladies in White), a feminist anti-Castro group. Professor Michael Seltzer pointed out that the group is led by Carlos Alberto Montaner who is reportedly connected to the CIA... Shamir and Bennett noted that Las damas de blanco is partially funded by the US government and also counts Luis Posada Carriles as a supporter. A declassified 1976 document (.pdf) revealed Posada to be a CIA agent. He has been convicted of terrorist attacks that killed hundreds of people. www.blacklistednews.com/index.php?news_id=11780

Adrian Lamo: hacker who betrayed Wikileaks mole What made former hacker shop the Brad Manning, the suspected ‘Collateral Murder’ whistleblower ? LAST UPDATED 10:33 PM, JUNE 7, 2010 Lamo, 29, has quite a history. He was arrested in 2003 for computer fraud against Microsoft, the New York Times and Lexis-Nexis. After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to six months' detention at his parents' house and two years' probation. More recently he has worked as a journalist – although today it became clear he has also been working as a casual informer for the US government. www.thefirstpost.co.uk/64243,news-comment,news-politics,adrian-lamo-hacker-who-betrayed-wikileaks-video-whistleblower
