Depleted Uranium was not used in Fallujah so the standard claim that DU causes birth defects does not apply here - it was false elsewhere too, but the Fallujah claims are totally bogus. DU is used to kill tanks - there were no tank battles there in 2003 and there were no enemy tanks to battle in either of the two hard fought house-to-house battles of 2004. The tanks that fought in the 2004 battles did not even carry DU penetrators. DU only punches nice little holes in things - tanks are special because when it is slowed down by hitting a piece of armor plate, the DU gets hot and also self-sharpens so it goes right through and the heat sets off the target tank's own ammunition if it gets close enough. If you shoot DU at anything else, it leaves a fairly small hole and does nothing else. As a result, the tanks that fought at Fallujah carried HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) rounds that explode and can blow a hole in a building or barricade. Stop spreading lies and learn the facts. It was a point of discussion, not a point of fact, mr ammo expert. It's a bit difficult to get to the bottom of anything with imbedded reporters and all the bullshit and bin ladens that fly around, like dead Reuters people and whatnot.
Also, I did you the courtesy of transcribing what the speaker in the video said. So, you're welcome for that - since it was easier for you to learn what she said and to respond. I ain't emailing you, by the way.
Most of this is probably moot with the 4 meltdowns in Japan. I hadn't heard anything about Fallujah myself, until this.

New World Order Statistic In September 2009, Fallujah General Hospital, Iraq, had 170 new born babies, 24% of whom were dead within the first seven days, a staggering 75% of the dead babies were classified as deformed. This can be compared with data from the month of August in 2002 where there were 530 new born babies of whom six were dead within the first seven days and only one birth defect was reported. Doctors in Fallujah have specifically pointed out that not only are they witnessing unprecedented numbers of birth defects but what is more alarming is: "a significant number of babies that do survive begin to develop severe disabilities at a later stage." Fatima Ahmed was born in Fallujah with deformities that include two heads Photo: uruknet.info www.thewe.cc/weplanet/news/depleted_uranium_iraq_afghanistan_balkans.html+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Suffering of Fallujah July 29, 2010 - Depleted Uranium (DU) - Uranium (U) is a naturally occurring heavy metal that has both radioactive properties caused by the decay of the uranium atom’s nucleus, and chemical properties as a heavy metal. See Health Effects of Depleted Uranium (DU): A review of Recent Research (Hardie) - By Robert Koehler at Huffington Post Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fallujah . . . And so it turns out that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, though not until we arrived and started using them. Along with whatever else we did to Fallujah — exacted collective punishment on a defiant city (a war crime) in November 2004, killed thousands of civilians, shattered the infrastructure (nearly six years later, the sewage system hasn’t been repaired and waste flows in the streets) — we also, apparently, nuked the city, leaving a legacy of cancer, leukemia, infant mortality and genetic abnormality. Freedom isn’t free. Remember when that was the go-to phrase of the citizen war zealots among us, their all-purpose rebuttal when those of us appalled by this insane war cited civilian casualty stats? Discussion over. Thought stops here. This is the power of language. Call it “war” and along come glory, duty, courage, sacrifice: the best of humanity writ large. The word is impenetrable; it sets the heart in motion; God makes an appearance, blesses the troops, blesses the weapons. Operation Iraqi Freedom: They’ll greet us with open arms. At what point do we learn our lesson, that “war” is a moral cesspool of horrific consequences, especially, and most troublingly, unintended ones? www.veteranstoday.com/2010/07/29/the-suffering-of-fallujah/

Over 16 million DU shells produced in Minnesota at TCAAP by Alliant Tech What are DU munitions? A DU munition contains a solid metal rod inside the shell. They are sometimes referred to as kinetic energy munitions. The penetrators consist of uranium-238, a radioactive, alpha emitting metallic toxic waste left over from the uranium "enrichment" process. Combined with titanium, the DU alloy is extremely hard and makes devastating armor piercing ammunition. The shells burn through armor upon impact. Over 500 tons of DU was used in the recent Gulf War. Depleted Uranium isn't painted or coated on the shell, but rather a solid metal rod inserted inside the shell. A one and a half pound 30mm shell contains a half lb. DU penetrator. Alliant has produced over 15 million 30mm PGU-14 shells for the US Air Force and over one million 120mm M829 rounds for the US Army. Both of these munitions use depleted uranium penetrators. The Army describes the 120mm M829 as the world's most lethal kinetic energy shell. The 30mm PGU-14 is used with a Gatling (7 barrel) gun on the USAF A-10 close support aircraft. The problem
The danger posed by DU warheads is when they burn through the armor of a tank, uranium oxide dust is produced, which is easily spread by the winds. Small particles can be permanently trapped in the lungs, where the alpha radiation dose, both cumulative and irreversible, increases over the victim's lifetime. The UN's World Health Organization is investigating the health effects of the DU weapons.
The effects
Symptoms that often result from radiation exposure: hair loss, fatigue, bowl disruptions, cancer and increased birth defects, miscarriages, still birth and infant mortality. Those involved in the production could also exhibit these symptoms. An untold number of the Gulf states populations are affected by the 800 tons of DU the US dropped in Gulf Wars one and two. In the United States, one study found a 30% birth defect rate among Gulf War vets' children. The Department of Defense denies any link between depleted uranium and Gulf War Syndrome, but this is being challenged by many veterans groups and scientists.www.alliantaction.org/download/pdf/0408aa4du2up.pdf

Three U.S. companies produce large calibre DU tank rounds: Alliant Techsystems (120mm), Day & Zimmermann (120mm) and the former Primex Technologies, now General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (105mm and 120mm). Other companies – located in China, France, India, Serbia, the former Soviet Union, and Pakistan – also produce large calibre tank rounds. Alliant Techsystems, the largest ammunition manufacturers in the US also produce small calibre rounds (25mm, 30mm) for guns on U.S. aircraft and fighting vehicles. The UK-based firm BAE Systems produced 120mm shells for the UK armed forces until 2003, when they ceased production on ‘environmental’ grounds. This list is not exhaustive. Fears of Depleted Uranium Use in Libya Wednesday, 01 June 2011 First, the record on previous uses of so-called depleted uranium weapons is unequivocal. While the very word 'depleted' or impoverished appears to indicate that arms containing this type of uranium are not very dangerous, depleted uranium well exemplifies the intractable nature of nuclear production. For the radioactivity spread by these weapons is not just long lasting, it is perennial in a literal sense: it is said to last into the future for nearly as long as planet earth exists: some 4,5 billion years. Yet for two reasons the U.S. and European states have historically opted to build weapons with everlasting radiating effects. Depleted uranium, largely consisting in uranium-238, is a very hardy metal. Hence it can be employed to strengthen military vehicles and arms. Also, arms containing 'depleted' uranium can easily pierce the armament systems of any, less powerfully equipped enemy. Thus, the Iraqi army during the second Gulf war staged against Iraq's occupation of oil-rich Kuwait in 1991 was taken by surprise. Suddenly, U.S. tanks fired shells, later identified as depleted uranium shells, having a 1,000 meters longer carrying capacity than theirs, and hitting their tanks with extraordinary speed. Again, there is ample evidence confirming that the U.S. war plane known as Thunderbolt (the A-10) in the Gulf war and in the war against former Yugoslavia staged in the late 1990s fired similar armour-piercing shells from its cannon. A whole range of Western tanks and military planes have meanwhile been equipped with shells and bombs containing depleted uranium. www.international.to/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1092

In the Spotlight: Don't let depleted uranium become another Agent Orange Last update Sep 13, 2011 @ 01:49 PM On Aug. 24, my son died. His name was Aaron Barnes. He was 26 with a wife and two young children. He died of a very rare and extremely aggressive cancer called Sacramatoid Renal Sarcoma. Aaron was a soldier. He joined the Army in response to 9/11. He served two tours in Iraq, a total of 26 months. During his time in Iraq, he was exposed daily to depleted uranium. This is believed to have caused his cancer. Depleted uranium is everywhere in Iraq and Afghanistan, as leftover shrapnel from previous wars. Veterans of the current wars are coming home and getting sick with rare diseases at a much higher percentage than the general population. Unfortunately, neither the U.S. Department of Defense nor the Veterans Administration are releasing this information or suggesting that returning soldiers be tested regularly, before symptoms become present. It took several months for Aaron to be diagnosed. During that time, he repeatedly stated that it was from exposure to something in Iraq. When he was finally operated on and diagnosed, he lived four more months. If you know a veteran from the current wars or are one yourself, please be hypervigilant about your health. Mention to your doctor that you were exposed to depleted uranium. My son may have had a chance if his doctors knew what they were dealing with. www.pjstar.com/opinion/spotlight/x948306006/In-the-Spotlight-Dont-let-depleted-uranium-become-another-Agent-Orange

25. Extension of DU to Libya - Top Censored Stories of 2012 President Obama’s undeclared and Congressionally unauthorized war against Libya may be compounded by the crime of spreading toxic uranium oxide in populated areas of that country. Concern is being voiced by groups such as the International Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons, which monitor the military use of so-called depleted-uranium (DU) anti-tank and bunker-penetrating shells. As of late March, the US has not introduced its A-10 Thunderbolts, known also as Warthogs, into the Libyan campaign, probably because these sub-sonic, straight-wing craft, while heavily armored, are vulnerable to shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles which Libyan forces are known to possess in large numbers. Once the air-control situation is improved by continued bombardment, however, these specialized ground-attack aircraft will probably be added to the attacking forces. The A-10 has a particularly large automatic cannon which fires an unusually large 30 mm shell. These shells are often fitted with solid uranium projectiles. A-10s were heavily used in the Balkan conflict, and Kosovo officials were dismayed to learn that some 11 tons of uranium weapons were fired there, leaving dangerous uranium dust fallout in their wake. www.projectcensored.org/top-stories/articles/25-extension-of-du-to-libya/Source: “Toxic Intervention: Are NATO Forces Poisoning Libya with Depleted Uranium as They ‘Protect’ Civilians?” Dave Lindorff, This Can’t Be Happening, March 23, 2011. www.thiscantbehappening.net/node/530

JONESBOROUGH, TN: Depleted Uranium delegation collects samples to be examined for DU contamination, participates in press conference. 25 October 2011 Aerojet Ordnance, Inc. in Jonesborough, TN is a Depleted Uranium (DU) processing plant with an unsavory history of handling toxic waste. The CPT DU delegation in Jonesborough has helped Dr. Michael Ketterer—professor at Northern Arizona State University—collect soil, water, and sediment samples in the area to be examined for DU deposits. Previous samples taken by Dr. Ketterer confirm DU contamination in areas around the plant and also in the Little Limestone Creek. CPT delegates accompanied Dr. Ketterer to three different homes in the area on Saturday, 22 October, collecting new samples, serendipitously gaining access to a home that backs up to Aerojet's fence line. Local DU activists organized a clergy breakfast early Saturday morning for Dr. Ketterer to present the results of his research. Following this presentation, CPT delegates met with a former Aerojet employee and expert in working with DU. He told of working in the plant prior to the 1981 strike for workers' health, and the dangerous conditions workers were exposed to, including DU waste dumped into open pits in the factory yard, and radioactive materials transported to a local resident's property. On Sunday, 23 October, Dr. Ketterer presented the findings from his report at a press conference on Jonesborough’s courthouse steps. Ketterer, delegate Cliff Kindy, and local DU activist Linda Modica then answered questions from local media and others in attendance. One couple that lives between Aerojet and Nuclear Fuel Service (a producer of nuclear fuel for navy ships) attended the press conference, voicing strong concerns about the impact of these plants on community health. They have experienced a number of health-related hardships and have lost a child to a stomach tumor. The delegation will participate in a public forum at Eastern Tennessee State University to discuss these questions and issues further on Tuesday 25 October 2011. www.cpt.org/cptnet/2011/10/25/jonesborough-tn-depleted-uranium-delegation-collects-samples-be-examined-du-contam

Radioactive uranium passing through NZ ports Published: 7:14AM Sunday October 30, 2011 Five thousand tonnes of radioactive uranium is being transported through New Zealand waters and docked at Kiwi ports every year. Paperwork provided by Green Party MP Gareth Hughes shows the government body charged with safeguarding people and the environment by regulating hazardous substances was unaware of the shipments for a 13-year period leading up to late 2009. Hughes last night called for an independent inquiry, saying many New Zealanders would be "shocked" at the magnitude of the shipments, some of which could eventually be used in weapons. tvnz.co.nz/politics-news/radioactive-uranium-passing-through-nz-ports-4489321

US Cluster Bombs Gift Cancer to Iraqi People 2011-10-30 TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iraqi health official unveiled the realities of the US-led invasion of his country, and warned that the cluster bombs used by the US forces in Iraq have left horrifying and disastrous impacts on the Iraqi people, mostly children. "After the occupation of Iraq by the US and the use of biological and atomic weapons, cancer cases have grown much in Iraq's cities," Head of the Health and Treatment Center of Najaf province in Southern Iraq Dr. Sabah Razzaq told FNA on Sunday. He expressed surprise at the large number cancer patients in Iraq, and said a group of them even have 2 to 3 types of cancer which is the result of exposure to atomic and biological materials of the US army ammos used during the invasion of Iraq. english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9007271346
